security

Security is certainly the most important pillar as long as a patient should never walk out of the office in a worse state than when he came in. There are a lot of medico legal problems in dental implantology especially so if working in areas where important nerve and vascular paths are present. For example, in the lateral area of the lower jaw, if a surgeon placing an implant damages the inferior alveolar nerve, the patient will have the lip and the chin num for all his live: we call this a paresthesia. This is irreversible. It happens in a tenth of a second and it is too late to correct it. If a surgeon is placing implants by hand, we call this mental navigation, it has been stated that the accuracy of the manual implant placement was an average of 3.3mm! This means that the nerve can easily be damaged.

It is why we need to be guided when placing implants. Since 1994, implant placements is done on our patients based on a CT-scan of the jaw. More recently, I invented the "SAFE System" allowing placing implants with an average accuracy of 27 microns. Accuracy is key to success in modern implantology

no pain

All my patients ask the same question and for sure we have been working hard on this problem. I have been working in close relationship with anesthesiologists for more than 15 years and this allows me to treat patients with no anxiety, not pain during the surgery and no pain after the surgery. It is based on a close collaboration between different specialists and also on a careful exam of each different case. One of the protocols I set up is to end a surgery numming the patient with a special injection so that the treated area will only wake up several hours after the surgery, with no pain.

Understanding and handling pain control is mandatory today in modern implantology.

In 2002, I introduced the "SAFE System" allowing minimally invasive and painless implant placement. As long as we are accurately guided and that we know where the bone is from the 3D analysis, we do not need to open flaps to place implants, we do not use sutures (that are painful to remove) and we finally reduce pain and swelling thanks to these technologies

efficiency

Efficiency is needed for all patients as long as we all want to have easy and fast results. We can again achieve this goal building our treatments on a strong analysis and interactive reflection. Despite the fact that we need to respect mother’s nature rhythm, we can always improve our treatments in taking the right information at the right time. In  implantology, I introduced an original procedure in 2002 that is called "Immediate Smile procedure" where the patient walks to my office with no teeth and walks out of the office with fixed teeth. Today this is just "a routine in my everyday practice and this simplifies the life of my patients.

This is just one of the several applications allowed by Computer-guided Implantology.

Using special implants that are anchored in very strong basal bone (skeleton) we can also avoid grafting bone in many cases. These implants are called trans-sinusal implants and are anchored in the zygoma eminence or the pterygoid wings.
This optimizes and secures treatments that should be done during a short stay in Dubai or for patients traveling a lot.

aesthetics

My patients do not want implants, they want a beautiful smile!

The result matters! This again is related to accuracy in implant placement. If your implants are placed manually without being guided with a real surgical guide, then you have a good chance to be in trouble for the final result. If your implant emerges 2mm too much to the right or to the left, or between two teeth instead of being placed exactly under the tooth to replace, then the lab technician will not be able to fabricate the teeth of your dreams. Accuracy is a key to success in aesthetics. Computer-guided Implantology allows me solving the critical problem of aesthetic results and working in full confidence.

In the same way, I recently set up an original technology called "Computer-driven Aesthetic Dentistry" allowing showing the expected result to the patient since the beginning of the treatment. This is the very last development of aesthetics in dentistry.
